Friday 20 April saw the annual College Open Evening held at the school grounds. The evening was a great success with lots of the local and wider Fraser Coast community in attendance. There were lots of happy faces and positive energy, especially for the finale Laser Light show which was spectacular.
This year we featured a stage showcasing interactive displays from different subject areas which was a great way for people to be entertained while learning about the curriculum and extra-curricular activities offered at the College.
Student leaders took on the role as tour guides, leading visitors through the College grounds, providing information on the contemporary learning spaces and the modern facilities enjoyed by staff and students. These guided tours gave everyone an added insight into life at the College as well an opportunity to meet our new Principal Mr Stephan le Roux.
Some of the highlights of the evening were:
Visitors were also treated to face painting, jumping castles, treats including fairy floss and popcorn, and a BBQ which was kindly run by the College Parents and Friends Association.
Open Evening has proven to be a wonderful event for the whole community over the past four years. It has provided the local and wider community with an exciting opportunity to feel welcomed and experience the commitment to quality teaching and learning of staff and students. St Mary's intends to continue this tradition for many years to come.
