Top OP results AGAIN in the Fraser Coast

Hard work, strong support and long-term dedication has resulted in exceptional OP outcomes for St Mary’s College 2019 Graduates.

The St Mary’s cohort excelled with a huge 36 per cent of students bringing home an OP 1-5 result, the College is proud to stand tall with such strong results.

Principal Stephan le Roux was confident prior to the announcement saying;

 “These results exemplify the values all our students have shown service, courage and justice, engaging in a dynamic experience and pathways, learning, personal growth, wisdom, success, service and being positive, caring and supportive. St Mary’s has always provided its students with a healthy and competitive environment to help them grow in every domain of activity, be it academics, sports or any other extra-curricular role. We have given equal opportunities to all our students so that they realise their true potential and get ready to face the outer world once they complete their schooling. We celebrate with all our students and families the excellent achievements shown through our OP results for 2019. We have a school of passionate, engaged and enthusiastic young people who excel and display their talents in so many ways.”

Crediting the tailored pathways approach St Mary’s develops with their students to their high success. The College is continually proving it is a leader in the region, with Maryborough’s best 2019 NAPLAN results, recognised for their excellent student to teacher ratios and a high emphasis on technology. Students are individually supported to succeed in the new system. whether that’s heading off to university, TAFE, undertaking a trade or moving directly into employment after school

St Mary’s is looking ahead with the 2020 state-wide introduction of the new QCE system and new university ranking ATAR. Our Staff have been involved in the development of the system and have been trained in new ATAR processes and systems as “assessors” in the assessment process, and in the endorsement and confirmation stages. This is an advantage to us in understanding what is ahead.

Looking to the future the 2019 graduates, have the world at their feet. St Mary’s Dux Molly Clarke humbly received the news of her outstanding OP 1 result, Molly contacted the College after the round 1 offers with the news she had received her first choice and will be studying at UQ St Lucia Campus this year. Many of the St Mary’s students are going into the new year with strong directions and the 36% of students who gained an OP 1-5 and over 70% of students reaching an OP 1-10, are confident to receive positions in their chosen courses. In addition, over 55% of St Mary’s graduates also received a VET qualification (59% of these at a Certificate III or Certificate IV level), and many have already established their chosen path prior to the OP release date by receiving University early offers with USC.

Principal Stephan le Roux, praises the strong community support from College, Family and friends;

 “We have fantastic staff, and I am grateful for their commitment, courage, and care that they display in so many ways. I am honoured to work with each of them. Their dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge that they bring to the classroom, promoting excellence and supporting our students to improve are of the highest quality. It is this dedication that provides for the opportunities and successes of our students.”

Many congratulations to all our OP students, you have done yourselves and the College very proud!
