Principal's Message

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the St Mary’s College community.

As a Catholic school, we aim to educate our students with an appreciation of the spiritual as well as the intellectual and physical aspects of their lives. We strive to work with our parents/guardians to produce young people of faith and character.
At St Mary’s we strive to create an environment that puts the student at the centre and where that student is supported by dedicated teaching staff and tremendous community spirit.  As a team, we are looking forward to developing further, the learning and teaching opportunities that will engage our students and build our teaching tools to deliver a dynamic and progressive curriculum.
We aim to instil a can-do attitude in all our students and work with them all to engender high aspiration and a range of personal skills and qualities including self-confidence and leadership ability. We ensure that we are developing our students not just academically, but as well-rounded young adults ready to be future citizens who will positively contribute to their community and the wider society when they leave.

It is also acknowledged that social, spiritual, emotional, cognitive and physical development will occur in students at different rates as they progress towards young adulthood.  Therefore, it is essential to accommodate these differences, not by having different standards and expectations for individual students, rather by adjusting the amount of guidance, support and freedom students operate within for their stage of progress.

We have many events and activities during the year that parents and extended family members are invited to attend.  Excursions, sporting events, concerts and other special days give students and their families opportunities to come and participate in College events.

Our goal as educators is to support all students academically and socially.  We will make every effort so all students progress as successful and literate members of society and are able to succeed in the increasingly complex world in which they will live and work.  The staff at St Mary’s College has high expectations of all students to enable them to fulfil their dreams and achieve their ambitions.

From a broad-based curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9, to a comprehensive range of senior school courses, St. Mary’s College is committed to providing a range of programs which will support all students in their future endeavours.  We offer a range of activities, both academic and co-curricular, which achieve these outcomes.   The co-curricular activities at St. Mary’s College support student interests and offer a wide variety of experiences which enhance the academic offering of the College.

Finally, if you would like to view the diversity of activity that happens at St Mary’s, click on the Facebook link and witness all the opportunities that have recently been on offer.  I am looking forward in continuing to lead St Mary’s into the era of new educational strategies, working closely with all students, parents and teachers.
